        History

The Eastern Dairy School, or the Eastern Ontario Dairy School was established in November 1894 at Queen’s University in Kingston, under the leadership of James W. Robertson, then Dairy Commissioner for the Dominion of Canada and former professor at the Ontario Agricultural College. The school was originally known as the Kingston Dairy School and was part of the Kingston School of Agriculture and Mining. It offered courses in butter and cheese making, dairy management, and milk and cream testing and pasteurization.

While the Kingston School of Agriculture and Mining was amalgamated with Queen's University, the Eastern Dairy School was taken over by the Department of Mining and Agriculture, Ontario Department of Agriculture, in 1896. In 1927, the Eastern Dairy School became part of the Kemptville Agricultural College and was permanently closed in 1936.
