Biographical history
Thomas Arkell (ca.1802-1875) was a native of Berkshire, England. He came to New York with F.W. Stone and his cousin, John Arkell, in October 1830. Settling in Puslinch Township, Wellington County, Ontario in May 1831, Arkell became a prominent breeder of Cotswold sheep and Shorthorn cattle and served as Magistrate there for more than 30 years.

The papers contain a photocopied account book of Thomas Arkell (ca.1802-1875), containing pedigrees of Durham or Short Horned cattle bought and bred by Arkell on his Little Farnham Farm in Puslinch Township, Wellington County.
