      History

      The Guelph Light Opera Company was founded in 1955 to produce Broadway Musicals and Gilbert and Sullivan operettas with local talent. The company also went under the name of the Guelph Opera and Concert Singers (1958-71) when performing oratorios. It was succeeded by the Guelph Oratorio Choir (1971-1974), and led the way for the foundation of the Royal City Musical Productions in 1978.
