The Lois Lister collection contains materials related to approximately 300 separate project files carried out for about 250 individual clients, mostly in Ontario. Project files include Lister’s working notes, sketches and drawings, large original working designs and architectural blueprints, lists of plantings, correspondence and memos, estimates and invoices, and landscape/garden photographs and slides.

The collection also contains many slides and photographs illustrating residential landscapes and gardens without any accompanying project materials, as well as other miscellaneous photographs and slides, newspaper and magazine clippings, a draft article by Lister, and other miscellaneous items.
