The collection contains newspapers, publications, land records, correspondence, church records, financial statements, cemetery listings, electors’ lists, diaries, yearbooks, and pamphlets related to Grey County, Ontario. The materials were collected by Emerson Walton Quinton of Walter Falls, Ontario. Newspapers and clippings are from Durham, Elora, Fergus, Elmira, Palmerston, Mount Forest, Guelph, Harriston, Meaford, Owen Sound, North Wellington, and Toronto. The collection contains a number of disparate materials on the early settlement of Grey County, including a list of land transfers in St. Vincent township, 1921-1942; a record of registered letters at Clarksburg, 1892, 1893; church records and financial statements (Presbyterian, Anglican and Methodist), including baptismal, marriage and burial records, for Walter's Falls and other areas; a notebook of various cemetery listings; a poll book for Thornbury, 1925; as well as municipal records and electors' lists, ledgers, diaries, school yearbooks, correspondence, and pamphlets.
