The collection contains materials created or acquired by Donald C. Beckett during his career at the Kemptville School of Agriculture and Agriculture Canada. Records include various agricultural advertisements and photographs relating to the Kemptville Agricultural School, the Barnard Power Curd Mill, the Brownsville Milk Powder Factory, and the 1893 Mammoth Cheese from Perth, Ontario. Notebooks from 1912 to 1934 belonging to A. L. Gibson, a Professor of Dairy Chemistry at the Ontario Agricultural College, are also included.
The collection contains various articles and clippings, photographs, a family tree, and other records related to the MacDonald/McDonald, Haggan, McKinnon, Taylor, and Bolton families. Materials include Family Herald articles (March 14, 1957-July 18, 1968) and a family history written by Donald MacDonald; the final issue of the Family Herald (September 26, 1968); a photograph of O.A.C. class of 1897 mock parliament (includes G.S. Henry); a biography and obituary of James C. MacDonald; articles on Hugh Graham (Lord Atholstan), founder of the "Montreal Star" and the "Family Herald and Weekly Star," and other articles relating to Scottish immigrants and the future of farming.
