History
Robert A. Thompson, a grandson of Rev. Thomas Christie (1783-1870), was a miller and grain merchant. He established the Thompson Grist and Flour Mill in Lynden, Flamborough (now part of Hamilton). The business was sold to the Lynden and District Co-operative in 1949. In the 1920s, Thompson was a member of the Board of Grain Commissioners for Canada.
