History
Henry Wissler (1860-1932), barrister in Elora, was the son of Sem Wissler (1819-1865) and Jane Robertson (1826-1907). Sem, originally from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, founded the settlement of Salem, Wellington County, in 1845. Jane was originally from Aberdeen, Scotland. Henry was educated in Salem Public School, Elora High School, and at the University of Toronto. He worked as a lawyer in Elora from 1880 to 1925. He married Barbara Macdonald Foote (1857-1953) on June 14, 1890.
