Richard Clutton Wright (1823-1908) was born in Saint Edmunds, Suffolk, England. He married Caroline (d. 1852) in 1845 in England, and the following year they immigrated to Upper Canada. They settled first in West Flamborough, Wentworth County, Ontario and had at least three children: Bessie Ann Wright (1847-1928), Horace Huson Wright (1850-1935), and Richard Wright (1852-1852). After Caroline died in 1852, Richard Clutton Wright married Mary Matilda Parmenter (1829-1915). They had at least eight children together: Pheobe Matilda Wright (1854-1895), Alma Richard Wright (1856-1932), Harriet Wright (1861-1868), Ella Adeline Wright (1865-1916), Kate Eliza Wright (1867-1949), Mary Wright (1870-1870), John Wright (1870-1874), and Samuel Wright (1871-1928). By 1861, the Wright family had moved to Malahide Township, Elgin County, Ontario. Richard worked as a baker and later as a carpenter. He died in 1908 and is buried in the Aylmer Celetery.
